January Favorites

STOP right now. If you’re reading on a mobile device, scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your email to subscribe. You have nothing to lose! You will receive one singular email when I post, which would be, at most, two emails a week. If you’re on a computer, subscribe to your right, it would mean a lot to me!

As much as I don’t really want to reflect on January, it seems only fair to share some of the good that came out of my least favorite month. I’ve got to say though, February is off to a rough start as well, with back to back crummy weeks, and a cabin fever that is actually driving me crazy. Anyway, enough about February! Let’s get to some favorites! img_8991.jpg

  1. All things Harry Potter. I’m ashamed to admit all of this, but back in the OG HP craze, I only read the first three books (half-heartedly… I blame Gossip Girl). Inspired by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and rewatching all the movies, I thought it might be time to give all of the books a proper read. Honestly, I feel like I robbed myself of fifteen years of magic, but it’s kind of special to know that I can deeply appreciate these books as an adult. If you’ve never read them, I suggest it, and if you have, I suggest a reread because what the hell else is there to do in winter?
  2. Alba Botanica Moisturizing Foam Shave. I’ve mentioned a lot that I have super sensitive skin, especially in the winter. I’m leery to ever change products for fear of allergic reactions, but I was really hoping to transition into a cruelty free shave ‘gel,’ and this has been perfect! Not only has it been gentle on my skin, but it doesn’t gunk up my razor, so that’s a huge win in my book.
  3. The Goldbergs.  I stumbled upon this clever little show at some point in January and have been squeezing in episodes whenever I can. Late eighties/early nineties are my preferred aesthetic, and I’ve also always had a fascination with sitcom (and real life) big families. Growing up an only child, I find myself laughing hard at sibling dynamics. If you’re looking for a new show to chuckle at, The Goldbergs can do that for you.
  4. HQ Trivia. Have you guys heard about this weirdness? It’s an app that you download to your phone to answer trivia questions and potentially win money. Twice a day, 3pm and 9pm eastern, HQ’s host, Quizzie McGuire himself, Scott Rogowsky, will guide all the players (usually upwards of one million people, so crazy) through a series of 12 multiple choice questions, of varying difficulty. Everyone who correctly answers all 12 questions will split the pot of money, usually 2500 dollars. It’s silly, next to impossible to win, and usually amounts to each winner getting low single digit dollar prizes, but it’s still a fun game to wind down to in the evenings.

**This Magic Moment** I can honestly say the most magical part of January was ringing in the new year at my dad’s house in West Virginia, watching movies on his couch, happy as can be!

I’m afraid, my friends, that’s it. January is so not my jam. I wish I could sneak in some February favorites, but I won’t do that! Just know, the list is much more exciting and already building for February. Share some of your January favorites with me!

Seriously thank you for the shaving cream suggestion, shaving in the winer is absolute hell and I need a good product! My husband read the HP books for the first time last year and he feels the same way!

I’m glad I’m not the only one behind on the HP train lol. You’ll have to let me know what you think of the shaving cream, it’s different than anything I’ve ever tried!

I started watching The Goldbergs a few months ago and the day I caught up was the saddest day! I’m lost without that lovable family to make me laugh every morning while I get ready for work!
