Can you believe how quickly December is flying by? It feels like five seconds ago it was Thanksgiving, and now Christmas is right around the corner.
It’s been a fun few weeks of daily blogging and there are some new faces around here. Hi! Thanks for stopping by and often making my day. It’s nice to meet you! I figured since my little space on the internet has grown a bit, I’d (re)introduce myself. So, here goes!
My name’s Leigh Ann. And yes, that’s my first name; I don’t just demand to be addressed by my first and middle name as some of my coworkers have assumed, haha. I was born and raised in West Virginia, but moved to Cincinnati when I was 24 to be closer to Kyle, who was my brand new fiancé at the time. We got married about a year later in 2014, moved to Columbus to be closer to family, and have been here since! Don’t get it twisted though, when it comes to home, West Virginia will always be mine. It’s the most beautiful place on earth and it boasts the kindest people, bar none.
I am not just, “more of a cat person.” I am a cat person, the end. I’ve always been a little fearful of dogs, but had a pretty terrible bite on the neck when I was 11 or so, and that sealed the deal. I’m cat mom to a sweet little gal named Chuck, and she’s quite literally the best part of everyday. But, if you have a dog, I most definitely think it’s cute, okay? I’m just scared of it!
I have a degree in Fine Arts. I know, not super practical, but I’d do it all over again. Creating has always been my biggest passion, whether it’s painting, dancing, singing, or writing, it’s always been a world that I’m drawn to, and I can’t imagine having studied anything else. That being said though, college completely broke my spirit and I’m just now, nearly ten years later, getting back into the groove of creating for me, and not for the approval of anyone else. It’s liberating.
I work in corporate retail, and it’s an interesting environment to say the least. Like The Devil Wears Prada would lead you to believe, the fashion industry never sleeps, and things are constantly changing. I always use this phrase when it comes to my job: “If you’re bored, you’re not paying attention.” I love it because I’m challenged daily.
I’m a homebody by nature, and always have been, so quarantine has not been a challenge for me in that sense. I love my actual home, and I like to pretty much stay put in my city. I studied abroad the last month of college, and that was thrilling and perfect, but I think it basically quenched my wanderlust for a lifetime, haha. I’m okay at socializing, but I have zero desire (and actually a shit ton of anxiety) to be in social settings outside of my bubble.
And speaking of my bubble, I’m super tight with my family and friends. In fact, my parents are my best friends, my mother and father-in-law make me feel like one of their own, and my close friends are practically family. My brother passed away when I was very young, so I always feel uncomfortable telling people I’m an only child when that’s not entirely true. I’m blessed with a chosen family of two (almost 3) sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law, and a handful of forever friends.
Oh yeah, I co-host a The Bachelor(ette/In Paradise) recap on youtube with one of those forever friends, Crystal. It’s a weekly ray of sunshine in my life, and this may be biased, but it could be a ray of sunshine for you, too! Crystal makes a ton of fun videos, but she also participates in Vlogmas alongside me, so be sure to catch up with her holiday shenanigans and our recaps on her YouTube channel.
Finally, in a few short weeks, laughing at leigh ann will celebrate its fifth birthday! And just like that, I have a kindergarten blog on my hands. But seriously, sharing all these scattered thoughts and passions of mine has been a real treat, and I’m so happy to have you here with me!
