Hi! If the title didn’t give it away, welcome to 13 Days of BlogOween to finish out my favorite month! I’ve teamed up with my friend Crystal (@shutupcrystal on Instagram and here on Youtube) to give you 13 days of spooky blogs and vlogs ending in a really fun GIVEAWAY! Stay tuned for details on how to enter and be sure to watch Crystal’s first Halloween vlog at a very strange pumpkin patch.
Real talk. I love Halloween. Everything about it. The weather. The movies. The candy. But most importantly, the costumes. Every year, Halloween shindig to attend or not (what of it?), I go all out on a costume… or three, because let’s face it: it’s the reason for the season. This year, I wanted to share my costume ideas with you, and hopefully inspire a few of you last minute costume shoppers out there!
Have you seen To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before yet? Me too! About 100 times. If you haven’t, what are you freaking waiting for? It is everything your romcom loving heart ever needed wrapped up, packaged in a blue hat box, and tied with a bow. I relate so much to Lara Jean Covey: love to write, endearingly (I hope) awkward, terrified of driving. One thing we don’t have in common, her style is on point, and mine is uh, lazy girl chic on a good day. People love her styling so much, that when looking for costume ideas, I found tons of guides to dress like Lara Jean in your everyday life. I went with this look from one of my favorite scenes in the movie, don’t miss my dainty little heart necklace, which is an adorable nod to the book.

Next up, where are my nineties kids at? If you want to see something really spooky, pop in your maybe VHS copy of Clueless and take a good hard look at Paul Rudd, who has not aged at all in the twenty-three years since the movie debuted. Witchcraft aside, I don’t think I have a single friend who didn’t go through a real Cher Horowitz phase. I’m living out my Cher dreams this Halloween because yellow plaid is everywhere, except available to order on Target’s website. As if!

Lastly, and favoritely, LL’s gotta stick together, and I have finally curated an awesome Luna Lovegood costume, thanks largely to my sweet mother in law. I have a real soft spot in my heart for Luna because I think people have often found me a little odd and because I was dubbed Luna by some of my classmates my freshman year of college. Luna is a badass, and I aim to be more like her!
This is honestly a bunch of pieces I’ve gathered over time, the most significant of which is this awesome Ravenclaw robe my mother in law got me at HP world. Any graduation gowns would work well too! Borrowed my husbands tie and viola! 🙂
Need some last minute ideas? No problem! As you can see, it’s really easy (though not always the most recognizable) to go with some of your favorite movie and television characters. I’ve also really rocked some musician costumes, and some off the wall ideas (like the wind, a parrot, so on lol). Try to avoid buying “costumes” sold together in a package. Instead, focus on utilizing or purchasing items that you will use again; this makes for a really quality looking get up. Be creative and have fun!
What are you dressing up as this Halloween?
