Hi! Every year during Blogmas, a few new faces show up around these parts, so I wanted to say hello and share a little bit about myself and this space. Welcome!
I started this blog almost six years ago on New Year’s Eve. At the time, I was anxious to find a creative outlet, and I never dreamed that I’d still be sharing these thoughts for years to come. This is actually my fifth annual Blogmas, and just about all the writing I accomplished this year, oops!
So, hi! I’m Leigh Ann. I’m 32, a born and raised West Virginian, but relocated to Cincinnati in 2013, and then Columbus, Ohio in 2014 for the long haul. I followed my then fiancé , Kyle, here, and we got married in September of 2014. We closed on our first home in December of that year, and that Christmas, I got the best gift of all time, Chuck.
Chuck is my sweet little kitty girl. Chuck? Yes, Chuck. She’s named after Charlie Brown, and almost immediately she seemed more like a Chuck than a Charlie. It’s her world and we’re just living in it.
I work in corporate retail, and to sum up my role, it’s pretty mathy. Retail is wild; it’s fast-paced, always changing, and never boring. So, yeah, I work a ton, but in my free time, I’m definitely more of a creative. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Marshall University (WE ARE!), and that statement is often met with, “Wow, are you good at painting?” For the record, yeah, I’m decent at painting, lol.
If I’m not working or painting, I’m likely to be found writing for this little space, reading, or binging something on Netflix. I’m obsessed with tv, and my dream job is 100% to be a staff writer for a comedy television show. Basically, I aspire to be Mindy Kaling.
I sometimes struggle with my mental health, and I’ve been pretty open about that here. I’ve always felt really safe sharing those details in this space. I’m going through a bit of a bumpy chapter currently, and I’ll be sharing more about that later this month. I’m just here to say, I’m struggling on the inside, and that’s okay. It’s more than okay if you’re struggling too. You’re heard, and you’re not alone.
My parents are my best friends, and I love spending time with them, though it’s been super limited since the start of the pandemic. Kyle’s parents spend most of the year in Florida (so jealous!!), and I absolutely hit the in-law jackpot, they are wonderful! Kyle also has a brother and sister that both live here in Columbus with their partners, and in May of 2020, Kyle’s brother became a dad to our amazing niece! I love getting to be part of this growing family!
My social circle is pretty small, but my friends have always felt like family. Growing up and maintaining friendships can be difficult, so I’m really grateful for technology that makes long distance hangouts possible. And I’m even more grateful for people who make time for road trips, phone calls, and joint Youtube shows. Speaking of Youtube, one of said best friends, Crystal, is doing Vlogmas on her channel, and you should absolutely check it out!
So yeah, that’s a little bit about me. I’m so glad you’re here!
xoxo Leigh Ann
