Hi! Leigh Ann here for just a second. Sharing an awesome small business today, Turning Page Soap Co. It’s owned and operated by a friend and former coworker, Danielle. I will always know her as DeeDee (the cutest nickname of all time). She’s a beautiful person inside and out, and in addition to conquering the small business world, she’s an accomplished Track & Field competitor, ice skater, dancer, and fellow former retail warrior. I’m so excited to share her small business today! Firsthand, I can tell you that these soaps are one-of-a-kind pieces of art and would make excellent gifts for anyone on your list! In fact, I’m gifting one 🙂
Here’s Danielle!
I started watching soap making videos on Youtube five years ago now, and was fascinated by all the techniques, colors, and fragrances.
My mother-in-law actually makes cold process soap too. During the pandemic and lockdown, she traveled to stay with us and brought a bunch of her supplies to teach me in person. I practiced awhile and was having so much fun trying new techniques.
Then last summer, I read Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer and completely fell back into what I call the, “Twilight Black Hole.” I was shopping from unique creators’ online and Etsy shops- I’m talking candles, headbands, keychains, jewelry… the list goes on and on. I didn’t see many people making or selling soaps, and I was looking to buy.
What really moved me into action was over the summer I read A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. I began daydreaming about all the unique soap colors, swirls, and fragrances that could be used to create soaps inspired by the series. When I searched online and once again came up empty-handed for any soaps, I just started making them.
I named my shop Turning Page Soap Co. not just because my soaps are inspired by books. “Turning Page,” by Sleeping At Last is the song that Bella Swan walks down the aisle to and it means a lot to me personally.
A new release will drop 12/11 on Turning Page Soap Co. Orders usually ship within 1-3 days, but please place your order by 12/13 to make sure your gorgeous soaps arrive in time for Christmas!!
I think the meaning behind Turning Page Soap Co. is so touching. I am a fellow Twihard and can very much relate to falling into that world every few years, and daydreaming about book universes in general. Running a small business is hard work, and DeeDee’s words remind me just how rewarding it is to support the creative community! Also, be sure to follow @turningpagesoapco on Instagram for more updates!
