Hi, hello, ho ho ho! I’m back for my sixth year of Blogmas (seriously, HOW?), and I have some festive shenanigans planned for the next 25 days! I’m going to kick off the fun with the Christmas A-Z tag, a fun little ditty I found on Lorna Cole’s blog. I’ll be listing all my favorite parts of the holidays alphabetically. If you’re doing Blogmas as well, consider yourself tagged!
A – absence from work, haha! But for real, it’s almost holiday PTO time, and everyone looks forward to some cozy days off for the holidays!
B – baby Jesus, because He is the reason for the season!
C – candles! Specifically, anything balsam or peppermint scented. I’d have my house smelling like Santa’s workshop year round if I could.
D – decking the halls. I think we can all agree that the holidays are made more magical by all the little knickknacks that get to come out of hiding once a year.
E – Elf on the Shelf. Yes, I have one, and yes, he delivers 12 days of Christmas gifts to my husband, lol. (Close runner-up? Eggnog, dairy free, of course)
F – festive t-shirts à la Peanuts and Grinch and puns, oh my!
G – gift giving, because everything about gifting is so freaking fun!
H – Hallmark Channel Countdown to Christmas is a staple, or maybe not so much a staple as a lifestyle. I use, “Hallmark movie,” to mean any sort of cheesy and heartwarming holiday movie on any channel or streaming network.
I – imagination. Christmas is pure magic. All that imagination that made it possible to hear jingle bells on the roof when you were a kid, it’s all alive and well within you if you just believe!
J – jolly old Saint Nick, need I say more?
K – Kyle, lol. When I asked Kyle to help me out with this one, he very confidently said his own name, and truth be told, he is one of the best parts of Christmas, so go off! Additionally though, kindness, because if there were ever a time to pay it forward, it’s the holidays!
L – lights! Driving around and seeing all the lights, and the glimmer of Christmas trees inside is seriously, the coziest feeling.
M – mail! Fun fact about me, I’ve essentially kept every greeting card I’ve ever received, and yes, it’s a bit of a storage concern in our house. I love receiving Christmas cards, especially with pictures!
N – New Girl’s Christmas episodes, specifically the one where Winston gets a cranberry stuck in his ear. Watching this episode is just as imperative as seeing all the classic movies each year.
O – opening gifts, feels weird to say, but I think we’d all be lying if we said receiving gifts wasn’t fun.
P – pickle in the tree. I think there are a bunch of different iterations of this tradition, but for us, the first person to find the pickle ornament is the first to open a gift.
Q – quiet winter nights are the silver lining of shorter days. Something about snow and cold really quiets the world… real and true silent nights.
R – Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, king of alliteration and my heart!
S – songs. Raise your hand if you have > 5 Spotify Christmas playlists! *raises hand*
T – traditions are the essence of holiday fun! Some of my favorites are Christmas Eve sushi, and The Santa Clause right before bed.
U – ugly Christmas sweaters, because I will take literally any opportunity to pretend that my lack of fashion sense is intentional rather than accidental, lol.
V – visiting with family is something I think we all look forward to. Here’s to a cozy trip home to WV this holiday season!
W – wrapping!! You have never met someone who loves wrapping gifts more than I do. If therapy isn’t for you, I highly recommend wrapping!
X – Xmas, everything about it! Except, calling it Xmas… for whatever reason, I’m not crazy about that. I’m also not crazy about xylophones though, so we’re working with slim options here.
Y – you! Call me cheesy, but the best part of Blogmas every year is getting to interact with all of you 🙂
Z – Zoo Lights! Every year, I drag poor Kyle out in the freezing cold to walk through the Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo, and it is so much fun!
That’s my silly little Christmas A-Z! I hope to see you back for the next 24 days for more festive fun. Wishing you the happiest of holidays!
Currently listening to: “Ho Ho Hopefully” by The Maine (give it a listen and you’ll see why it’s today’s soundtrack!)
