Blogmas Day 9: Shop Small, Turning Page Soap Co.

‘Tis the gifting season, and this is your yearly reminder to give your Prime membership a breather and shop small! Shopping small is an excellent way to support your local economy, and it puts money in the pockets of real people who are passionate about their small businesses! Trust me, Bezos is good, I promise.

In all seriousness, shopping small is so much more than supporting artists and creators, it’s the best way to give thoughtful, quality, and unique gifts. Danielle (or DeeDee, as I will always know her), has been kind enough to let me share her business, Turning Page Soap Co.,two years in a row.

First, let me tell you a little bit about Danielle. I met her years and years ago working in retail, and have always been taken by her bubbly personality. In addition to running a small business, she’s a wife, figure skater (!!), distance runner, dancer, and so much more. She’s recently been participating in adult figure skating competitions, and I think this goes without saying, but her instagram feed is majorly enviable. Wish her luck in her ice show this Saturday, December 10th, and as she trains for the Midwestern Adult Sectional Championships in March! Here’s a peek at one of her recent shows, such a talent!

Danielle started watching soap making videos on Youtube about six years ago, and was fascinated by the process. Her mother-in-law also makes cold process soap, and during a lockdown visit, she brought a bunch of her supplies to teach Danielle in person.

Her new passion for soap making in combination with a love for reading books, birthed Turning Page Soap Co. Fun fact: she named her shop Turning Page Soap Co. not just because the soaps are inspired by books, but also, “Turning Page” by Sleeping At Last is the song that plays as Bella Swan walks down the aisle, and as a fellow Twilight lover, the song means a lot to Danielle. Her book inspired soap creations are pieces of art, seriously so beautiful that you almost don’t want to use them. I say almost because they also smell phenomenal, and who doesn’t want to smell good?!

Currently, her Etsy has an array of beautiful soaps, and they’re all so cute, it’s tough to choose! I picked out a couple as gifts for Christmas, but after they arrived, I knew I’d either end up keeping them, or place a second order for myself. With scent combos like Spiced Berry, Citrus Amber, & Lavender, and Grapefruit, Jasmine, & Cucumber, you can’t go wrong!

I hope you’ll shop small this holiday season, and I highly recommend Turning Page Soap Co., @turningpagesoapco on Instagram! Be sure to place your order by December 16th for delivery in time for Christmas! And definitely be on the lookout for some new and exciting soap collection drops in 2023! Thanks again to Danielle for letting me share a little bit about her and her beautiful shop!
