The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear! My husband would tell you that I think it’s the best way to spread everyday cheer, and he would be right, but it’s even more important during the holidays.
Much like movies, there’s a ton of Christmas falalalala-ing to get through, so going forward, I suggest you start in October. I won’t lie, I think the best way to experience every genre that Christmas has to offer, is to go old school with Pandora. However, when I’m on a long trip, I like to (also go old school here as well, apparently) bring along a stack of my favorite albums. So, enter your email to the right to follow along, and get your pipes ready to sing a song!

The Classics
James Taylor at Christmas– James Taylor (duh): There is something truly magical about this man’s voice. It’s a voice that’s appreciated by my entire family.
Michael Buble Christmas– Michael Buble (also, duh): A listen-througher, this is the album equivalent of The Santa Clause in terms of the warm and fuzzies!
Christmas Eve and Other Stories– Trans-Siberian Orchestra: If holiday music isn’t up your alley because it’s a little too bubblegum and you’re a little too rock and roll, then this is the album for you. My dad and I used to watch these guys perform this show every year and it is absolutely incredible!
A Charlie Brown Christmas- Vince Guaraldi Trio: This has to be one of my favorite albums of all time, to go with one of my favorite Christmas shorts of all time.
Fanson Forever
Snowed In– Hanson: I distinctly remember watching Hanson perform close to Christmastime when I was about eight. Even then, I knew the real deal when I heard it, (lolsies, but fanson forever, really) and was moved to tears. How my parents weren’t moved to tears with laughter, is beyond me, but I was given an early gift that year, and this album has graced my CD player ever since. It is another, ‘can listen the whole way through’ album.
Finally It’s Christmas– Hanson: The heavens smiled upon us this year when Hanson announced they were releasing a new Christmas album, twenty years in the making. I jammed to this all morning while I was running around finalizing my gifting situation. I can sense your skepticism, so give this a watch/listen.
TBT to your pop punk heart
…And a Happy New Year– The Maine: The only pitfall to this album is that it only has 4 songs, one of which is even better than the original, in my opinion. This album is quirky and heartwarming and reminds me of simpler times and long overnight shifts at Hollister, haha.
Belieber Forever
Under the Mistletoe– Justin Bieber: Listen, hate me all you want, but I’m not ashamed. This CD is Christmas gold. If you don’t like it, then my momma don’t like you!
Standout Songs
The magic of pandora, and television, is that you find some standout songs to add to your Christmas playlist.
“Santa Stole My Lady”- Fitz & the Tantrums: Discovered this one on New Girl several years ago, and have loved it since.
“What are you doing New Years Eve?”– Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Okay, cat’s out of the bag. I clearly love Zooey a lot!
“I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”- John Rox: This is just a kid classic to me!
What are your favorite Christmas songs?
