Glossier Review

Hello, and Happy Memorial Day! It’s a hot one here in Ohio, and we’ve mostly enjoyed the festivities in the air conditioning today. Recently, I took the plunge and bought some goodies from Glossier! I feel like I’ve been lusting after the products via facebook and instagram ads for years, as well as heard rave reviews from friends, so it was time.

I would say the Glossier price point is pretty middle of the road, however, it’s more than I would typically spend on a total shot in the dark, so I wanted to review the products I’ve tried so far to shed some light for any of you out there who’ve been contemplating a Glossier purchase. Let’s get into it!

Milk Jelly Cleanser– So, I actually got the cleanser, moisturizer, and lip balm in a bundle, which reduced the price (12 dollars!), but I want to review them separately because I have varying feelings toward all of them. That being said, the cleanser is really cool. That’s not how I would usually describe a facial cleanser, but that’s what it is. The texture truly is jelly, and it honestly makes me kind of excited to wash the day off each night.

Pros: lightly scented, non-irritating, great for really dry skin like mine

Cons: absolutely doesn’t wash off all your makeup like the ad suggests (I use in tandem with a makeup wipe and that does the trick!), probably not great for oily skin

Would I repurchase? Absolutely.

Priming Moisturizer– I’m really indifferent about this product. It’s not hurting or helping me.

Pros: smells phenomenal (think baby lotion, but subtle), lightweight and non-greasy, would be excellent for oily skin people whose tendency would be to skip a moisturizer

Cons: doesn’t do much in the way of moisturizing my super dry and flaky skin

Would I repurchase? Maybe if there were a significant discount and only for humid weather.

Balm Dotcom– I got mint, but I really struggled to not get the coconut. I love this stuff. I don’t think it’s anything groundbreaking, but I like to put on a really heavy lip balm at night, and this is just that.

Pros: heavy, moisturizing, the mint scent/flavor is zingy and refreshing

Cons: none for me, but I can see how many wouldn’t like this as a daytime lip option because it’s thick and heavy

Would I repurchase? Yup, probably coconut on the next round just to try it!

Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector (for acne prone skin)- So, this is the product that really persuaded me to take the plunge. I feel like Glossier is posting believable results from this stuff on the social media, which I really appreciate. It shows people with improved skin after a four week time frame, instead of some sort of instagram sorcery where this product caused your cystic acne to magically vanish in a month. So far, I like it a lot and think it’s very comparable to the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads that I’ve used in the past.

Pros: gentle, no strong scent, the pump doesn’t allow you to waste product, I have seen some positive differences in my skin

Cons: the bottle isn’t really travel friendly, and while I think you’re getting more product than First Aid Beauty is offering, you also need cotton balls, which you don’t need with FAB’s product.

Would I repurchase? Yeah, definitely. This is a (somewhat) cheaper alternative to First Aid Beauty, and so far, so good.

Super Bounce Hyaluronic Serum- Hi, are you sick of me saying I have dry skin? Well, I do, and this stuff claims to fix it. I’m really digging this serum. Like everything else, it’s no miraculous fix to my problems, but still a great quality product.

Pros: easy to use, non-scented, lightweight, relieves my tight and dry skin overnight, and aesthetically, the bottle is really pretty

Cons: it’s not magic, but what is?

Would I repurchase? Definitely, yes. This is much cheaper than the hyaluronic night cream I have been using (like way, way cheaper), and soaks into my skin much better

So there you have it, friends! My real life review on Glossier so far. If I can kick my ass into gear this summer and stop picking at my skin, I’m going to treat myself with some no-makeup-makeup from Glossier and will provide a full review on that. Have you guys tried anything that you love from Glossier?

xoxo now if only my hair had Super Bounce

Ah I’m so glad! I have crazy sensitive skin so I’m always skeptical, but Glossier has been a hit =)
