Blogmas Day 7: Holiday Party Style

‘Tis the season to have parties, falalalala lalalala. If you’re nothing like me, you’ll probably be attending at least one party this holiday season, and if you’re something like me, you’re stressing over what you’ll wear. I took some time to scour the internet and found a few great looks for every party occasion, whether it’s with coworkers, family, or friends.

*Disclaimer: This is my very first fashion post. I am, really, not an expert. I’m cringing at some of the wording here, but hey, gotta start somewhere!

**Double disclaimer: Are you caught up on @shutupcrystal’s Vlogmas? She pulled off a very successful secret show and you should watch!

The Work Party

I really wish my workplace threw a holiday party! I spend so much time with my coworkers, that many of them are my best friends. Celebrating some earned time off at the holidays sounds like a great time, but what to wear?

When it comes to looking professional and festive, I think the best plan of action is to combine a fun statement top (think velvet or sparkle), with some more traditional wear to work staples. Maybe pair a velvet top or holiday graphic with a fun blazer and dress slacks or black jeans. Top the whole look off with black booties that are both dressy and comfortable.

The Family Get Together

Celebrating the holiday with family is fortunately, much lower stakes when it comes to fashion. However, a shindig with family isn’t all dancing and mood lighting. It’s a lot of lounging on the couch, setting the table, and because no one has unlimited party seating, sitting on the floor.

For a family get together, comfort is key. I’m going to go for a chunky sweater French tucked into dark wash jeans. Pair those with a shoe that’s got some height, and this is a look that will please every family member who thinks you’re otherwise, a total slob. (In my case, they are not wrong.)

The Friendsmas Bash

If I’m being real, my friends and I usually gather at Buffalo Wild Wings in t-shirts and jeans, ready to feast on the cheapest food on the menu, and those are some of my favorite hours of each year. However, if we were to class things up a bit (please, let’s never), I’d step way out of my comfort zone and try my best to ‘rock’ a jumpsuit.

There are so many gorgeous jumpsuits this year, but I’m in love with this green number that even came in petite sizing. It’s warm and has pockets (I will literally buy even an ugly dress/romper if it has pockets)! This could be styled with a fun blazer for a more sophisticated look, or maybe with a faux leather jacket for some edge. Also, may as well squeeze a second use out of those black booties.
